SMILE Podcast production- Self evaluation

Image
SMILE Campaign final evaluation For the pre production for my podcast I analysed the target audience so i can identify who i am aiming to reach and how i can do so effectively. materials and equipment so i can have a general idea of what type of equipment i am using, why i should use it and what they do. This was important because it allowed me to make the podcast the best audio quality possible.  i thought up and wrote down my initial ideas so i can visualise my product before i made it, giving me room to make any changes necessary to the overall structure of my idea. i did  existing product research, involving podcasts which also line up with my target audience so i can identify codes and conventions of podcasts to figure out what to include and what not to include . I highlighted why i think the podcast is appropriate for the target audience in order to identify what i can do to relate to them. i highlighted my intentions and what i hoped to achieve with the ...

SMILE AC:2 Pre Production. Evaluating and analysing the need for certain resources.

Evaluating and analysing the need for certain resources.  this post shows the research i have conducted on different components used for podcast production. this will help me so when it is time to record audio for my podcast i have a better understanding of the technology needed for clear quality audio.  Microphones To record the audio for the podcast episode ill likely use the Rode NT1A, which is a diaphragm condenser microphone with a cardioid polar pattern. this is appropriate for podcast production because a cardioid polar range eliminates unwanted background noise. the audio is also clear and the microphone is affordable.  The difference between condenser and dynamic microphones  condenser microphones- Condenser microphones have a lightweight diaphragm which makes it great for picking up delicate and high frequency sounds such as voices, acoustic guitars other string instruments. the audio a condenser mic records is clean and smooth. this is not a suitable...

SMILE Podcast research and initial ideas

Podcast This podcast will be focusing on skateboarding and its effect on mental health. The purpose is to raise awareness of what skating means to people and how much of an impact it can actually have on their mental health, which I think is a commonly overlook fact. Its function is it informs and entertain listeners. It is educational because it will highlight less talked about subjects and can raise awareness of how important good mental health is to people’s day to day lives. I hope that the podcast will shine a new light on skateboarding and change its overall image in the media as something pointless and childish. I plan on structuring it so that the podcast will have an introduction which basically lets the listener know what the podcast is going to be about, what I will be discussing and why I will be discussing it. I will go onto a questionnaire section and build a talking point for myself on these questions. I will then move onto a conclusion and eventually an outro....

SMILE AC2 Pre Production. Storyboard

Image
Storyboard .  In this post I have included the mockup storyboard for my product to visualise what it will look like before I commit to a certain storyline. this will help me when making my product as i can organise the shots while filming so optimise productivity and time management.

SMILE AC2 Pre Production. Script

Image
Script This is a draft script I  produced on CelTx to get a better visualisation of what my product will look like before I have begun production. This will help me as I can better visualise how my final product will look so I can alter features of it and optimise my chances of getting higher marks.

SMILE: AC:1 Informing ideas. Pitch feedback

Image
presentation  In this post i have reviewed the feedback i was given on my rationale pitch from the questionnaire i gave people to answer and considered how the feedback will effect what i should include in my project. doing this will help me identify flaws in my idea and make adjustments where necessary.   i got good feedback on my presentation skills and was told my speaking was very clear. i also got good feedback on the time i presented my rational  when asked what they would change about my presentation, i was told they would include more text and add a story board. This is important as it provides a visual aid to how the final product will look before it has been made. this is important to potential producers and investors as it makes them more confident and more likely to take on the production. idea my idea was well received and got good feedback. this will effect the production as i know i dont have to make any major changes to the plot.  i asked in the ...

SMILE AC1 Rationale

Image
SMILE Rationale. In my rationale i have explained ideas for my TV advert, included a mock up script, explained my plans for structure and content, editing and cinematography, why i believe my campaign will be successful, target audience statistics and how i can accommodate that in my project and what my existing product research has taught me. The purpose of this was to present to other people to get an opinion on my product before production has begun so i can alter different aspects of it where needed.    I made a rationale to present my ideas and get feedback on my work to figure out what i need to improve to make a better product.

SMILE AC1: Informing Ideas. research into subject matter.

Does smiling improve mental heath In this post I have explained what i have found out about the effects of smiling on people's mental health and included links to where i have found the information. i believe this will help me in the production of my video as i can include the information and research i have found doing this research to add validity.  there have been studies done which prove a direct link between reduced stress levels and improved moods. The study explains how the smile doesn't actually have to be genuine to have stress relieving effects. smiling reduces stress by promoting the production of dopamine and endorphins, which are the hormones released by our brains when we do something satisfying such as exercising, eating or doing something that you enjoy.  The Psychological Benefits of Smiling - Psychreg There is research that suggests that smiling can also improve the mood of those around you. smiling at a stranger can boost their mood, reduce stress by r...

SMILE AC:1 Informing ideas. Existing product research

Image
Existing product analysis AC:1 In this post I have watched examples of mental health charity promotional videos and identified common codes and conventions of this type of advert and what I can take from them and include in my product. this will help me with my project as I can take features from these examples and use them to get my message out effectively.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBS7v-v5oMo This is an advert created by CAMH which follows a girl suffering from anxiety disorder. The message of this campaign is to make people realise that mental health is equally important as physical health. There is a very effective use of quick scenes showing the girl panting. This is effective at conveying a message; ‘mental health is health’ as it shows her in physical discomfort. This induces emotion in the audience as visually experiences the effect of her disorder will have more of an impact than just hearing her.  the camera is constantly moving backwards throughout the v...

SMILE AC:1 Informing ideas. defining the target audience

Image
in this post I have analysed the data collected from my audience research. i have included the question, reasoning as to why i asked that question, percentages of people who chose that particular answer to the question. I have done this because evaluating my data and figuring out the reasons for my findings and how that effects the way i have to make my product

SMILE AC1 informing ideas. client research

Image
Client research and previous MIND campaigns.  In this post i have shown the research i conducted on MIND including facts on the charity i was able to find on the internet and a series of quotes i have taken from their website. i have done this because it will help me better understand my client and what their main goals and objectives are. i have also included examples of previous MIND campaigns and explained what they are, what their purpose is, their target audience and links and images to find more information on the campaign. i have done this because i feel like researching previous campaigns from my client will inspire ideas for my project. Who is mind? MIND is a UK based mental health charity founded in 1946. its headquarters are currently based in Stratford , London and is ran by actor Stephen Fry. MIND relies on donations from the public and profits from their 160 charity shops around the UK to operate. for every £1 MIND earns, 84p of that is used on charitable work. In 201...
